A video review of the Sony VAIO P second gen ultra portable notebook computer. The Vaio P has an 8″ LED backlit display with 1600 x 768 resolution (you can scale it down with the press of a button to 1280 x 600 to make text more readable). It runs on the Intel Atom Z530 CPU at 1.6GHz (single core, dual thread) and there’s a model with a 2GHz Atom. This is one of the smallest Windows 7 PCs on the planet and the keyboard is touch typable. It has WiFi, Bluetooth a display that rotates via accelerometer. A review of the latest Debian Stable, or Debian 6.0 Squeeze with the Xfce desktop environment. A surprisingly lightweight distro with the stability and reliability that Debian is renowned for. Definitely worth giving it a try if you know your way around Linux and want a fast and stable workhorse. Apologies for the extremely tight (possibly rough) edit of this video, you’ll notice a few times where I cut myself off from the end of the sentence. I was pressed for time as college has gone back and I was trying to get this rather long video to under 15 min. I didn’t succeed…Never mind. My apologies. Also I said “Xfce” when I was actually referring to “VLC” @ 8:05. Ohhh dear…wasn’t concentrating.

This is a review of InvisibleSHIELD for the HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7, reviewed by Andrew Bares from wmpoweruser.com After reviewing Wrapsol, some of our viewers wanted to know how InvisibleSHIELD and other scratch protection products work compared to Wrapsol, so here’s a review of InvisibleSHIELD for the HTC HD7! The installation process of InvisibleSHIELD is pretty simple. It uses this application solution which you have to spray onto the screen protectors and your fingertips. This probably helps keep your fingerprints off of the film and allows you to make some readjustments while applying it since the solution lets it slide around a bit. Plan on putting aside 30 minutes to install InvisibleSHIELD on the device. And have relatively sharp fingernails, because peeling the protective films off their paper backings is nearly impossible. Once you’ve squeegeed out all the air bubbles you could, you might notice that the shield has a weird reflective texture to it. It isn’t a matte screen protector since it’s just as glossy as before, but it does distort the reflection. This adds a sort of cheap feeling to the look of the device. You can see this in the picture I included with this article. That’s my main complaint about InvisibleSHIELD. Otherwise, it actually does a fabulous job of preventing fingerprint smears! And the responsiveness of the touchscreen is just like it was without a protector. As of now, I would personally pick Wrapsol over InvisibleSHIELD, simply because …

The ExoPC is one of two full Windows 7 slate tablets that can be purchased. The other, the HP Slate, is on extreme backorder (currently 8 weeks out), and so I decided to pick one of the ExoPC slates up instead so that I could provide a proper review. A lot of other reviewers keep dinging Windows slates claiming that they’re not optimized for touch; Windows 7 has significantly more touch-friendly functionality than almost every other OS, especially when coupled with a stylus. The ExoPC is ***NOT*** an iPad competitor. It targets an entirely different market. If your goal is to get work done and have the freedom to customize your device the way you see fit, the ExoPC and other such full Windows slates are your choice. If all you do is consume media (videos, games, music, etc), just get an iPad, as it’s better for those things. You will notice at times that my touch does not provide feedback. This is because I hadn’t calibrated the display to my finger yet. Once calibrated it’s significantly more accurate than what I showed. Calibration should be done the moment you fire the thing up the first time. I also did not show flash performance as an HD movie in Windows Media Center is more taxing on the graphics card and a better indicator of video performance. Lastly, I did not go into deep detail about the ExoPC UI layer as in my opinion it’s vastly inferior to iPad as far as quick consumption of media. In this video I explain about drive partitioning and give an example of deleting an old Linux install, resize Windows partition, and explain what the other partitions on your harddrive might be. 2:48 Ubuntu Manual Partitioner 8:35 How to use GParted The Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) tend to leave a boot partition and a Windows recovery partition. FAT32 tends to be a small bootup partition NTFS is used for Windows and Windows backups I recommend using Ext4 for Ubuntu You’ll also need a Linux Swap partition, which should be at least 1Gb, but its worth allocating more if you have enough harddrive space available.
